Ravelin Lookup is a cross-merchant database of real-time fraud data generated by online businesses around the world. As a merchant, you can use Ravelin Lookup to securely share your fraud data and check whether any identifiers (such as a phone number, email address or IP address) have been flagged for fraud anywhere in our global network.
Using Lookup during scoring
Lookup during scoring means that when you ask Ravelin to evaluate a customer we will also use the Lookup database to determine the recommended action. We check to see if the customer's email, phone number, or IP address has any matches in the database in real time alongside the other checks we do.
Lookup during scoring can then be configured to:
- Set an action for when a Chargeback match as been found
- Set an action for when a Fraudsters Manual Review has been found
You can set an action of Review (advised) or Prevent.
Updating the Lookup Database
Merchants who are part of the global Ravelin Lookup network securely share with us all relevant identifiers (including email address, phone number and IP address) associated with customers that have either requested a chargeback for an unauthorised transaction, or who have been reviewed as a fraudster by their fraud analysts.
Ravelin securely processes and stores this data, automatically updating the Lookup database every second to ensure that you have access to the most up-to-date fraud data available.
Removal from the Lookup Database
Customers will be removed from the Lookup database if:
- They have a chargeback that’s been forgiven
- They have a chargeback that’s been won
- Their fraudster review is changed to any other review status
Lookup within an Organisation
Lookup can also be used within an organisation, as a means to preventing the same fraudulent customers from attempting transactions across multiple merchants within your organisation. When used in this way the data is not shared to any other clients and is restricted to your organisation.
Keeping Customer Data Secure
Ravelin is both both PCI-DSS and ISO/IEC 27001 compliant. We process and store Lookup data to stringent standards of safety, security and privacy.
Customer information you send to the Ravelin Lookup database will always be kept confidential and only accessible to you - Ravelin will never disclose any customer information related to an email address, phone number or IP address to another merchant. Other merchants in the global Lookup network will only be able to confirm whether an email address, phone number or IP address has been flagged for fraud in the Lookup network.
